The Edge of Success examines the epidemic of teenage suicide that has hit hundreds of communities across the United States, going deep into the recent teenage suicide clusters in Palo Alto, California. The Stigma around mental health and suicide leads many who need help unable or unwilling to seek it. This is especially true for teenagers, who feel immense pressure to “fit the mold” defined for them by their families, peers, and social media. Many feel that nothing short of perfection is good enough.
Through the honest and heartfelt first hand account of five unique high school students, The Edge of Success seeks to end to the stigma surrounding teenage mental health struggles and suicidal thoughts and show kids don't have to feel the need to succeed no matter the high price.

Adapting her critically acclaimed novel Les Terres Saintes, Amanda Sthers writes and directs HOLY LANDS, which explores the complicated lives of the Rosenmerck family. Lapsed Jew Harry (James Caan) is a former cardiologist who suddenly decided to spend his retirement as a pig farmer in Nazareth, Israel, in a move which deeply shocks his family, the local community and rabbi, Moshe (Tom Hollander). Back in New York, his ex-wife Monica (Rosanna Arquette) is trying to manage the lives of their adult children Annabelle (Efrat For) and David (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), as well as her own, after finding out she has a brain tumour.

Filmed in the iconic landscapes of Israel, HOLY LANDS is a universal story about love, family, loss and tolerance, told with incredible humour and heart through career best performances by a stellar ensemble cast. HOLY LANDS shows that, even in the most dysfunctional of families, what matters is the courage to say what has been left unsaid...

16 Bars
Buy Tickets

16 Bars is a feature length music documentary that offers a rare glimpse at the human stories (and songs) that are locked away in our nation’s jails and prisons. The film follows three inmates at the city jail in Richmond, Virginia and one former inmate who was recently released and is struggling to adapt to life on the outside. The men are a part of a unique rehabilitation effort that involves writing and recording original music. In the jail’s makeshift recording studio, the men collaborate on an album with a Grammy-winning recording artist, Todd “Speech” Thomas, from the iconic activist hip-hop group Arrested Development. As the creative process unfurls, each of these men must unearth painful elements of their pasts, which hold the key to a new chapter in their lives.

The film is set in Richmond Virginia, the former seat of the confederacy, where the legacy of systemic racism, a spiraling opioid crisis, generational poverty, and a lack of mental health services have entrapped many of its citizens in a cycle of incarceration, making the city itself a unique case study for rising recidivism rates in the U.S. at large. With the U.S. locking up more of its citizens per capita than any other nation on the planet, the music of the film serves as rare testimony to the raw and messy truth behind the criminal justice system’s revolving door.

Interwoven with veterans' voices from across the country, their unique paths of healing and transformation shed light on long-term consequences of war and raise questions about the roots of war and societal cycles of violence.

A severely injured Iraq War veteran discovers a new voice that helps heal his wounds of war, as he and his wife struggle to keep their marriage alive. A female Iraq War veteran fights through the effects of Military Sexual Trauma and takes on the U.S. government in a class-action lawsuit that could improve the lives of same sex couples in the military. A World War II veteran, who waited years to receive military benefits, spends time helping others with the support of a young, civically-minded Marine Corps veteran looking out for him.
Through perseverance, humor, inner reflection, courage and the determination to help others, they overcome many challenges, yet they cannot foresee each bend in the road that lies ahead.

Rich Kids
Buy Tickets

Rich Kids is a film that sympathetically views the modern day and ongoing challenges of economic disparities, gentrification, displacement and evictions faced through the lens of Latino and Afro-Latino American youth.
The screenplay (by Somers & Saldaña) is based on an actual event that took place in Somers’ childhood home, after a group of neighborhood teens broke into the family home and stayed for several days before the event ended in tragedy. The film’s title, Rich Kids, signifies the wealth of love, talent, intelligence, and emotional resilience that the characters have in spite of their economic challenges while living in a world that views them with skepticism and indifference.
Matías is a bright teenager whose family struggles with harsh financial troubles. When he discovers “Los Ricos”, a wealthy family, are out of town, Matías breaks into their mansion where he and his friends spend an afternoon basking in the good life. The party is soon disrupted when a trouble-making relative shows up uninvited. Loyalties are then pushed to the breaking point as Matías’s desire for power in the house rises.
At it's heart, Rich Kids is about a young man’s transformation from the person he thinks he's supposed to be into the person he really is, as he comes to terms with the realities and consequences of living a community ravaged by the wealth gap and income inequality.
This vibrant portrait of six troubled teenagers showcases the talents of our young charismatic cast, and is set over a period of less than 24 hours in a limited number of locations in South Houston, TX.
